In this two-day workshop, Don will guide us through the story and science of seed saving, as well as the practical applications of what it means to become a true seed steward.
The first day will focus on an overview of reproductive biology from pollination to seed formation, exploring the archetypes of plant form through the various stages of the plant’s growth. The second day will build upon this foundation as we delve into the practical application of seed harvest, cleaning, storage, and the next growth cycle. If you fell asleep in botany class because your teacher failed to make a compelling case for the dynamic magic of living plants, then please join us as we revisit this crucial topic with curiosity, intrigue, magic, and wonder.
This is our third workshop with Don Tipping, and we are very excited to welcome him back as we build out our Farm Lab, seed saving program, and seed bank at The Ecology Center! While each day of this two-day workshop can be taken either independently or consecutively, we encourage those interested in the full expression of seed saving to participate in both days. It’s a rare opportunity to experience all aspects of the plant’s journey under the guidance of a true expert in the field.
