Facilitator Bio:
Baba the Storyteller is a world renowned author, educator, and speaker with more than 30 years of experience. He is one of the few recognized U.S. born practitioners of the ancient West African storytelling craft known as Jaliyaa. The city in which he resides, Long Beach California, recognized him as the municipality’s Artist of the Year, and as their “Favorite One Man Show”. Additionally, he has been honored with commendations from both the U.S. Senate and U.S. Congress. When not touring internationally, he can be found serving his community in local schools, libraries, festivals and events.

Known for his gift of weaving humor, rhythm, music, and ancestral wisdom, Baba invites us into a shared space where children and adults can settle in, listen deeply, and be carried by the timeless power of story.
Stories are how we deepen into community—how we remember who we are, how we honor where we’ve been, and how we imagine what’s possible. Baba will guide us into this living tradition—reminding us that storytelling is nourishment for the heart.
