Soil Consciousness & Panel Discussion

Thursday, July 17th | 5:30 PM–6:30 PM

Derek Richard Thomas is a musician, author, and environmental storyteller dedicated to regenerating both land and culture. As the former frontman of Vista Kicks, he toured internationally and opened for legendary acts like The Rolling Stones. He is the author of How to Make Soil and the creator of The Soil Makers, handcrafted compost portals that turn food waste into fertile ground. Derek’s work—featured by Spectrum News, Good Day LA, Common Ground, and Kiss the Ground—invites communities to heal through song, speech, and soil.

Lizzie Loch is an artist and energy practitioner who guides others through deep meditation to uncover and release the emotional roots of physical illness. In collaboration with osteopathic doctors, she helps patients integrate healing on all levels. As a core member of The Soil Maker Movement, Lizzie leads Soil Consciousness retreats and created Inner Landscaping, a practice supporting inner evolution through presence, awareness, and creative embodiment.

Together, Derek and Lizzie offer a powerful invitation to reconnect with self, soil, and spirit—healing from the inside out and the ground up.

Join us for an evening of connection, curiosity, and regeneration. Hosted by soil maker and musician Derek Richard Thomas (DRT) and artist and transformational facilitator Lizzie Loch, this gathering introduces Soil Consciousness—a way of healing the Earth from the inside out.

We’ll explore how to turn waste into wisdom—composting food scraps, old stories, and emotions into fertile ground for growth. You’ll meet The Soil Maker, a handcrafted composter that reconnects us to the soil cycle, and take part in a grounding energetic practice.

We’ll close with a shared dialogue, inviting your reflections and visions.

This isn’t just about compost—it’s about remembering your place in nature as a co-creator of life.

Peace Dome activities help us reconnect to the land by sharing experiences that create reverence to the thousands of years old history of interconnectedness.
By coming together as a community, we are able to reflect on our relationship to this planet and this farm in order to help better steward it with a deep sense of peace. This work is just one of the ways in which we help envision a future of meaningful investment in our food, our neighbors, our children, and of course, this magical farm.
