Note from Evan Marks
I’m excited to share Bill Mollison’s Global Gardener series. Bill Mollison is the grandfather of Permaculture Design. An inspiring naturalist that helped me and millions of others think differently about our role as humans on planet Earth. These films feature Bill sharing some of his favorite projects that exemplify humans and nature designed to work in concert, supporting one another.
For many years, we would show these films during all of our Permaculture Design Certification courses. To inspire our students and ground them in practical examples of the work. I hope these films will inspire you as much as they have me. We will leave time and space for a conversation on permaculture design.
Join us for a screening of Global Gardener, the groundbreaking documentary series featuring Bill Mollison, the grandfather of the permaculture movement that started 30 years ago.
Exploring the permaculture approach to
sustainable agriculture, the film follows
Mollison across Australia, India, Zimbabwe, Europe, the United States, and beyond, showcasing how thoughtful ecological design can restore degraded landscapes, grow abundant food, and create resilient communities in a wide range of climates.
Blending practical examples with Bill Mollison’s inspiring philosophy, Global Gardener has influenced generations of environmental stewards, including The Ecology Center’s founder, Evan Marks, who credits the series as a formative source of inspiration in his own journey. Following the screening, we’ll gather for a community conversation on permaculture design and the timeless ideas that continue to shape a more regenerative future.

Peace Dome activities help us reconnect to the land by sharing experiences that create reverence to the thousands of years old history of interconnectedness.
By coming together as a community, we are able to reflect on our relationship to this planet and this farm in order to help better steward it with a deep sense of peace. This work is just one of the ways in which we help envision a future of meaningful investment in our food, our neighbors, our children, and of course, this magical farm.
