BREAD Artisan Bakery is a family owned and operated wholesale bakery servicing southern California. They promote community and encourage daily deliveries to ensure the freshest locally produced products in their restaurants and cafes. They are located in Santa Ana, CA.
About Jonnie & BREAD Artisan Bakery:
"I was born and raised in Orange County. I attended high school in Laguna Beach and earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics from UCLA. My father was raised in an Italian American family in Rhode Island. Needless to say food has always been an integral part of our family. Coming home from school as a child to me meant looking forward to what would be cooking– marinara sauce, chile verde, roasted peppers. From scratch…fresh ingredients…always homemade. I love to cook. My whole family loves to cook. I love to make food, eat food, read about food. Finding an interest in restaurants in my teens was not surprising. I worked as a hostess, waitress, cocktail waitress, manager, catering staff, catering sales person and party planner.
One day while catering a party in Coto de Caza in the early 90’s we ran out of bread. I went to every nearby (and not so nearby) market and could find no decent bread to serve…a few years later my father started Breads n’ Spreads. He brought old world style artisan bread to orange county. Unfortunately, my father passed away too soon to see his dreams of artisan foods in Orange County explode! In 2008, after a 12 year career in advertising, I jumped into the world of bread and vowed to continue his dream.
BREAD artisan bakery was born on October 1, 2010. We started in San Juan Capistrano in a small bakery that we sublet. Our production doubled in size by Year 1 and tripled by Year 2. We started production in our current facility in Santa Ana on May 1, 2012. We have been blessed with amazing baking talent and an incredible group of clients. Our trucks deliver fresh bread daily to some of the most exclusive restaurants, cafes and resorts in Orange and LA counties. Everyday we strive to make the best, all natural, old world style bread possible.
